Imagine yourself in the late afternoon, sitting on a quiet sandy beach in the south of France, the emerald waves of the Mediterranean Sea in front of you. On your right, the sun is inching towards the horizon and from the left you feel a soft breeze on your face. It's been a sensational day. You started off the morning with a little stretching and strengthening, it was great to begin the day that way. The afternoon was spent in the good hands of a very talented masseuse and you're about as relaxed as you've ever been. You're looking forward to spending the day tomorrow walking the narrow alleys of a medieval town with your friends, stopping at boutiques for some unique items you can only find in France. In a few minutes you'll join the group for a Provençal dinner but for now you're just here, watching the light change over the water and enjoying the peace of the oncoming dusk.
How are you feeling these days? Not completely burnt out, perhaps — but stretched a little thin. You’re the capable one. The steady one. The one who organizes, anticipates, and keeps things moving. And while you don’t need fixing, you do need space. Space to breathe. Space to wander somewhere beautiful without checking your phone every five minutes. This week is designed for exactly that: meaningful connection, stunning surroundings, daily movement, and time that belongs entirely to you.
The travelers joining this retreat are curious, kind, and done with rushing. They've raised kids or are launching them. They've built careers or are rethinking them. They like to read, appreciate good art, and will happily walk three miles if there's a good lunch at the end of it. They're open to movement that's grounded rather than extreme, and they're looking for real conversation with people who get it. Quality over volume. Substance over spectacle. Sound like your kind of people? Read on.
Because even when you sit down, your brain doesn't.
Because you've mastered competence but forgotten ease.
Because you need a real break, not just a weekend.
haven’t had uninterrupted time to yourself in years.
miss feeling creative or playful.
want to feel stronger and more at home in your body.
want deep conversation without small talk.
are looking for beauty without hurry.
Each day begins with guided movement sessions led by Louise Love, designed to strengthen and support both body and mind. Drawing inspiration from the sea, the light, and the landscape around us, she’ll guide you through intelligent, accessible sequences that may include yoga-inspired stretches, Pilates-based strength work, and gentle water sessions. These mornings are not about intensity. They are about awareness, steadiness, and feeling fully at home in your body.
With Libby Cecchi as our guide, our afternoons turn outward. Together, we’ll connect more deeply with the culture and character of this region — through a hands-on cooking class featuring local specialties, time spent wandering various medieval streets and ramparts, and walks along coastal paths lined with pine trees and scented with sea air. These experiences are thoughtfully chosen to spark curiosity and creativity, while still leaving room to move at an unhurried pace.
Open space is woven into every day. Reading on the beach. Napping in your room. A game of cribbage on the terrace. A gentle stroll around the neighborhood. Sitting by the pool with something cool in hand and good conversation nearby. Nothing is required. Everything is optional.
Our home for the week is an expansive yet welcoming villa in Antibes. It's large enough for each of us to have our own private bedroom, yet intimate enough to feel truly at ease. There is space to gather and space to retreat: indoor and outdoor areas for our daily sessions, a heated pool, a lush lawn, and multiple terraces for dining and lingering.
The villa is ideally located within walking distance of the beach, cafés and restaurants, the old town of Antibes, a nearby spa, and the Pilates studio we’ll use during the week. Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood, it offers both proximity and peace: the best of both worlds.
Antibes blends history, beauty, and everyday Riviera life. Its old town is enclosed by 16th-century ramparts, with cobblestone lanes, small boutiques, and cafés spilling into sunlit squares. The Picasso Museum overlooks the sea from within the Château Grimaldi and sandy beaches curve along calm Mediterranean coves. Luxury yachts are moored in the marina and pine-covered paths trace the coastline. Just nearby, the chic resort town of Juan-les-Pins offers a livelier seaside atmosphere allowing us more options for dining and shopping if so desired.
All meals are included.
Each morning begins with a classic French-style breakfast at the villa — fresh pastries, fruit, eggs, yogurt, and strong coffee enjoyed at an unhurried pace.
Lunches are typically taken out in town, where we’ll visit thoughtfully chosen bistros and cafés to sample regional dishes and seasonal specialties.
In the evenings, we’ll either gather at the villa for a chef-prepared meal or dine nearby at one of Antibes’ inviting restaurants. Every day is designed with balance in mind — nourishing, flavorful, and relaxed.
...are ready to pause the busyness of daily life and give yourself the gift of time, movement, strength, and renewal.
...want to immerse yourself in the flavors, arts, and coastal beauty of the Cote d'Azur while making new memories to bring home.
...are craving kinship with a small circle of thoughtful travelers who, like you, are navigating their own next chapters.
Opportunity to step away, move, rest, and get inspired. Our days are structured so that the journey is a real break from regular life and you'll return home stronger and ready to go again.
Seamless travel, stress-free days. Every detail is handled: the itinerary, the driving the reservations. All you have to do is arrive with your suitcase and let the experience unfold.
Leaders who are there for you. Dependable, capable, and well-prepared Louise & Libby are natural leaders. Both of them first-born, they have both been herding cats their whole lives and are pretty good at it, using serendipity and a little sense of humor.
As guests arrive at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, transfers bring everyone to our private villa in Antibes. There’s time to settle in, dip your toes in the sea, explore the old town, or simply rest by the pool. We gather that evening for our first shared meal and begin easing into the week ahead.
Our mornings begin with movement, grounding us before the day unfolds. After lunch, we explore Antibes with a local guide and / or head out on the water for a boat ride along the coast. We will always build flexibility into our schedules, especially to be able to work with the weather. Late afternoon is intentionally unscheduled — time to rest, journal, swim, or simply be before coming together again for dinner.
Morning movement sets the tone, followed by a slow afternoon dedicated to restoration at the spa. The day is designed for unwinding — heat, water, quiet — and returning to the villa feeling lighter and deeply relaxed.
After our morning movement session, we venture to the hilltop village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, for lunch; wandering its cobbled lanes, galleries, and stone walls. It’s a day of beauty and perspective, with time built in to savor rather than rush.
Movement in the morning, then an afternoon exploring either Château de la Napoule or the artisan town of Biot. Whether immersed in art, history, or glassmaking traditions, the day blends culture with curiosity.
After movement and a light lunch, we head to Nice for a hands-on cooking class. We chop, taste, and learn in order to experience an intimate way to understand the region through its flavors. The evening feels celebratory but unhurried.
Our final full day begins as always: together in movement. In the afternoon, we choose between visiting the Picasso Museum or setting out along a coastal walking path, letting the weather and our wishes guide our choices. That evening, we gather for a celebratory dinner in town, honoring the week we’ve shared.
All good things must come to an end, but we'll make sure you leave with a full heart and plenty of time to catch your flight. We will shuttle you to the Nice Airport, arriving at least three hours before your international flight's departure, and wish you bon voyage.
Unless, that is, you've chosen to extend your stay! If you have elected the supplemental package, we will be packing up after breakfast, loading the car, and heading off on a few more adventures. Some options include a perfume class, a vineyard visit, or a trip to visit Renoir's home and workshop.
Eventually we will arrive in Nice, check into our hotel, and have a little rest time before dinner.
For those willing to set the alarm a bit early, we can take you out to the expansive open-air market of Nice to find some extra-special souvenirs: think wooden utensils carved from olive trees, organic soaps created from age-old recipes, vintage French posters and art, and samples from cheese producers, fresh fruit vendors, and more.
Next we will follow along with Chris, who was born in Nice and who will lead us through the maze of the old town, regaling us with stories and secrets from its past. He always ends his tour by giving out samples of little baked goods from his mother.
For lunch, we will drive a few minutes to the nearby Rothschild estate with a tour of the mansion and its grounds to follow. If time and energy allows, other options for this day include a visit to Èze, it's botanical garden, and perhaps a stroll along a coastal path.
We'll have our usual break in the late afternoon, enjoy one last dinner together, and leave you to pack up your souvenirs to prepare for your travels home or onward.

Hi, I'm Louise Jørgensen Love, and movement has been my thing for as long as I can remember. I've built my career around a simple belief: that consistent, natural movement keeps you strong, mobile, and feeling good in your body for the long haul. No extremes, no punishment, just smart, intentional practice.
I hold certifications in Pilates, yoga, personal training, and several other modalities; and I have a degree in Exercise and Movement Science. But what I love most is finding what actually works for each person in front of me. On the Côte d'Azur, I'll be leading our morning movement sessions with that same approach: accessible, grounded, and genuinely good for you. When I'm not teaching, you'll find me backpacking, paddling, or doing just about anything outdoors with my dog. I cannot wait to move with you in France.
Hello, fellow traveler! You're interested in exploring the world and have a long list of places to see. You like to walk and meet new people and you take care of yourself yet you also say yes to that occasional decadent crêpe. We've created this trip for you!
I will be your activities guide. I absolutely love being in France and I would love to show you what I have discovered! The architecture alone will stop you in your tracks. And the food. And the people. One of my favorite French words is flâneuses - sophisticated individuals who take pleasure in the act of wandering and the art of observation. This person embodies a certain philosophical and aesthetic approach to life. I am looking forward to gallivanting around the Côte d'Azur with you.
It is highly recommended that you research and obtain insurance coverage. Gallivant & Traipse is not an insurance agent so have no specific recommendations on any particular policy. Be sure to understand what you are purchasing; there are differences between travel insurance and travel protection. Here are two resources that might help you find the best policy for your situation:

In April, spring is beautifully underway in Antibes. Expect mild, comfortable days with average daytime temperatures around 60–68°F (16–20°C), and cooler evenings dipping into the low 50s°F (10–12°C). Sunshine is common, though occasional light rain showers are possible. It’s a lovely time to visit — flowers are blooming, the crowds are still light, and layers are key! Think light sweaters or jackets for mornings and evenings, with comfortable walking shoes for exploring.
Absolutely. We’re happy to accommodate most dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and common allergies. France is wonderfully food-centric, and we work closely with our chefs, hosts, and restaurant partners to ensure you’re well cared for without feeling like you’re missing out. We’ll gather dietary details in advance so everything is thoughtfully arranged — all you need to do is come ready to enjoy.
Expect easy movement. Each morning Louise will lead us through guided movement, focused on stretching and strengthening our bodies to prepare for long term healthy living. Afternoon activities will include walking and standing, possibly for two-three hours at a time. No strenuous hikes or Alpine cycling!
All travelers will receive an emailed packing list. That being said, you won't need anything truly dressy, you should plan to pack in layers, and you can spend the whole trip in a pair of nice sneakers. Don't forget your Pilates socks!

You will be transferred to the the airport; arriving three hours before your international flight. You may have to leave the hotel earlier depending on other's flight schedules.
