Below you, vineyards stretch endlessly in one direction, olive groves in the other. In a few moments, you'll join your small group of new friends at a charming bar for apéro, but for now, you're simply soaking in the beauty and stillness of this moment.
Over the next ten days, you'll share lively conversations with these brilliant, like-minded women, engage in hands-on experiences that spark your creativity, and discover new skills along the way. All while being surrounded by the quiet elegance and raw beauty of Provence—savoring exquisite meals, wandering ancient villages, and letting yourself fully unwind.
This is your invitation to an exclusive, extraordinary adventure—one that will awaken your senses and leave you forever changed.
Our gallivants aren't your typical "check-the-box" tours. They’re immersive, soulful, authentic journeys designed for those who want to slow down. To learn. To listen. To truly soak it all in.
This trip is for sunset watchers and coffee sippers. For those who delight in a clever turn of phrase. For women who find joy in wandering cobbled streets, not just to reach the medieval cathedral at the end, but for the sheer pleasure of the stroll itself.
This ten-day experience is for women ready to reconnect with what truly matters. Because when you're relaxed, inspired, and surrounded by kindred spirits — that's when the magic happens.
This isn't a typical tour group. It's a thoughtfully curated gathering of only four curious, creative women who value meaningful connection and shared experiences. You won’t simply sign up — you’ll apply. Because the right company makes all the difference.
You'll find yourself surrounded by kindred spirits — women who are eager to explore, reflect, and savor every moment. And when the journey ends, you’ll return home not only with unforgettable memories, but with new perspectives, lasting friendships, and a renewed sense of direction.
This experience is designed to awaken your senses and reignite your creativity. Through a carefully curated blend of hands-on workshops, intimate conversations, and unforgettable moments, you'll tap into your natural curiosity and discover new ways of seeing the world — and yourself.
Over ten immersive days, you'll be part of a small, select group of women engaging in meaningful activities that will leave you refreshed, inspired, and with a whole new outlook on life.
Feel the earth beneath your feet — literally — as you step into a massive, waist-high oak barrel for an unforgettable grape-stomping experience! You'll laugh yourself silly while you splash and connect with your fellow travelers, taking part in this ancient Provençal tradition.
Afterward, we'll explore the vineyard and learn the art of wine-making from local farmers who have been tending these vines for generations. You'll be regaled with stories of harvests past, sing traditional French drinking songs, and savor a rustic buffet of local cheeses, pâté, charcuterie, and red wine — all topped off with tastings of the farm's olive and truffle oils.

In the heart of Provence — the birthplace of fine French fragrance — you'll step into a world of scent and artistry. During an intimate workshop at a renowned perfume atelier, you'll learn the delicate craft of blending natural essences to create your very own signature scent.
Guided by a master perfumer, you'll explore the subtle notes of florals, herbs, and woods that make up a truly memorable fragrance. You'll leave with a beautiful bottle of your bespoke creation — a one-of-a-kind reminder of your time in Provence. And, should you fall in love with your scent (you will), your personal formula will be saved, allowing you to reorder it anytime you wish.
Imagine sitting beneath the stars, surrounded by the ancient stone walls of a Roman amphitheater, as music fills the air and echoes through history. In Provence, two remarkable venues — both former arenas from the Roman era — occasionally host concerts that are truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
While securing tickets for these events is never guaranteed, Gallivant & Traipse will be keeping a close eye on the schedule as our travel dates approach. If the stars align and a performance becomes available, you'll be the first to know. And if not, don't worry — there will be plenty of other opportunities to experience the rich sounds of Provence, from traditional folk music to impromptu street performances.
Provence is a feast for the eyes. We'll wander through the crumbling ruins of ancient castles, where weathered stone turrets and battlements still stand watch over the valleys below. We'll meander through sunlit vineyards and silvery olive groves, soaking in the beauty of the rolling countryside.
From the heights of a hilltop village, you'll take in sweeping views of golden fields and distant blue mountains, with the vast sky stretching endlessly above. And in the vibrant village markets, your eyes will dance across the vivid colors of Provence — deep purple lavender, bright red tomatoes, golden yellow tablecloths, and the lush greens of freshly harvested herbs.
It’s beauty you’ll carry with you long after you return home.
From the very first buttery bite of a flaky croissant, still warm from the boulangerie's oven, to the last sip of a perfectly aged Provençal wine at sunset, your taste buds will be in heaven.
Mornings will begin with simple pleasures — fresh bread, creamy butter, and rich coffee. Midday, we'll indulge in leisurely lunches of crisp baguette sandwiches and vibrant, garden-fresh salads. And in the evenings, we'll savor the rich flavors of Provence: briny olives, earthy truffles, fragrant herbs, and slow-cooked dishes that have been perfected over centuries.
And yes, there will be wine. This is France, after all.
Imagine driving up to this charming oasis, tucked away in the heart of Provence. The lush gardens welcome you, the quiet bedrooms invite you to rest, and the open spaces beckon you to breathe deep and unwind. This little gem will be yours for seven of our nine nights, and let me tell you — it’s the perfect blend of historic Provençal charm and modern comfort.
The villa is fully air-conditioned (a rarity in France!), with a heated pool, fully equipped kitchen, and private en suite bathrooms for every bedroom. You’ll feel utterly pampered! Plus, there’s WiFi, a washing machine and dryer, a small gym, and even a ping pong table and pétanque court. (Which you will learn how to play while you’re here!) Designed for, luxuriating, and resting and with views that stretch for miles, you'll find it nearly impossible to tear yourself away for our fun day trips.
We'll wrap up our adventure with two nights in the vibrant harbor city of Marseille (you know, to ease you back into reality). Our 4-star hotel will be a sleek, happy place to savor these final moments before heading home.
You’ll enjoy all the upscale comforts: air conditioning, a hairdryer, a delicious hosted breakfast each morning, and — bonus — we’ll be perfectly positioned for an easy trip to the Marseille airport when it’s time to depart.

When you're gallivanting and traipsing all day, you need a peaceful, comfortable haven to recharge at night. On this trip, you’ll have your own private, upscale bedroom — no awkward bunkmates, no snoring strangers. (And hey, if you're the untidy snorer... no judgment here.) Because when you're living your best life in Provence, a good night's sleep is non-negotiable.
One of the great joys of traveling in France is eating in France. And in Provence, the cuisine is as colorful and vibrant as the landscape itself. With a focus on fresh, regional ingredients and simple, rustic recipes, the food here is pure magic. Think ratatouille, bouillabaisse, and tapenade — the classics you’ve heard of. But you’ll also discover the lesser-known delights: crispy socca, golden panisse, and the savory onion tart known as pissaladière.
Each morning begins with a complimentary breakfast at our villa. For most of us, that first steaming café crème is non-negotiable. Picture a long, sunlit table set with crusty French breads, creamy butter, and homemade jams. We'll also have fresh fruit and protein options to fuel the day’s adventures.
From leisurely picnics with buttery baguette sandwiches to lively brasserie lunches and gourmet, candlelit dinners — every meal will be a celebration. One of the best parts of traveling in a tiny group is the flexibility to decide where and when we eat. Light lunch? Let's stop for an afternoon ice cream. Indulgent, two-hour feast? We'll keep dinner simple. And dessert? Always.
(...as if you could.) Provence boasts nine distinct wine regions, and we'll make time to sip and savor the best of them. And for those with a taste for something a little stronger, there’s pastis — the traditional anise-flavored apéritif that perfectly captures the spirit of Provence. If you’ve read Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence, you’ll know exactly what I mean. (And if you haven't read it yet, now's the time.)

Arrival day! We will meet at a hotel very close to the airport in Marseille where you can immediately start to unwind. As fellow travelers arrive, you will enjoy a day by the shimmering blue pool, with a delectable picnic and refreshments. You may chose to nap, you may chose to socialize, you may chose to jump into the pool (just make sure your swimsuit was packed in your carry-on for easy access)! Ensure you're there by 4 PM because that's when your journey starts: we will wind into the hills and valleys of Provence to our incredible provincial villa! Upon arrival, you will be shown to your own room where you can settle in as only you know how. There will be a light meal available.
We will start out slow, since you will be experiencing a bit of jet lag! After breakfast, you will spend a leisurely and blissful morning at the spa! You'll get a massage, time on the hydromassage table, and access to the sauna, hammam (steam room), sensory shower, pool, and herbal tea service. You can't get much more pampered than this!
We will have lunch and then head up the hill to the incredible perched village of Gordes, the quintessential Provincial town. If your dreams of France include meandering narrow, cobbled streets amongst golden hued stone buildings, well then, this is what you've been looking for. Gordes is classified as one of France's most beautiful towns so make sure your cameras are fully charged!
The evening you will find yourself surrounded by new friends as we raise our glasses to enjoying the last day of summer and the beginning of adventure! Sitting on a terrace, we will watch the sun play on the deep ocher cliffs of Roussillon as we enjoy our feast.
Today’s adventure takes us to the crown jewel of Provence: Avignon. Once the seat of the Catholic Church and known as the City of Popes, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is brimming with history and charm. With a local guide leading the way, we’ll wander through the beautifully preserved medieval streets, taking in the grand architecture and hidden courtyards that make this town so enchanting.
The highlight of our visit is the awe-inspiring Palace of the Popes—the largest Gothic palace in the world. We'll step inside the vast ceremonial halls, admire the delicate frescoes, and even peek into the pope’s private chambers. You’ll feel the weight of history as you stand in the very rooms where power and politics once shaped the course of Europe. From there, we’ll make our way to the famous Pont d’Avignon, where you just might find yourself humming the old French tune.
With any extra time, you’ll have the chance to explore Avignon’s charming squares and artisan shops or visit one of the city's extraordinary museums, like the Petit Palais or the Collection Lambert. And as the golden light of Provence fades, we'll gather for a memorable dinner featuring regional specialties—perhaps a glass of chilled Côtes du Rhône as we toast to an unforgettable day.
"The hugeness, the solidity, the unexpectedness, the monumental rectitude of the whole thing leave you nothing to say – at the time – and make you stand gazing. "
So said Henry James about the astounding UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Pont du Gard, an aqueduct. Built by the Romans in the first century AD, this was a feat of engineering for its time. You will spend your time here as you prefer: maybe get out your watercolors and paintbrush? Or your pen and moleskin? Enjoy the museum? Follow a guide through it? Depending on your interest, we could even rent kayaks and paddle underneath it.
Your day will include another UNESCO brought to you by the Romans: the charming town of Orange. With its impressive Roman Theater and Triumphal Arch, you will feel like you're in a miniature Rome! The plan is to attend a concert in the theater but if there isn't one, you'll still get to explore this majestic place, including standing on the stage "Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your ears!" (Shakespeare, Julius Caesar)
Step back in time as we explore the charming villages of Salon-de-Provence and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, both steeped in history and bustling with lively markets. In Salon, we'll visit the iconic Marseille soap factory, crafting pure vegetable-based soaps for over 600 years—choosing a scent will be the hardest part! Don’t miss a taste of the local specialty, the delicate navette cookie, or a stop at the home of famed astrologer Nostradamus, now a museum.
In Saint-Rémy, we'll follow in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, tracing the landscapes that inspired some of his most famous works. You'll recognize scenes from paintings like Irises, Self Portrait, and Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun as we wander the peaceful countryside. Oh, and if you want a little more Nostradamus, this is where he was born!
Nearby is the archeological site the ancient town of Glanum. You will be entranced by just how well-preserved it is as you traipse along its pebbled paths, pausing at the mausoleum, the triumphal arch, public baths, and forum. Don your toga, grab your goblet, and you'll instantly be transported to the days of Julius Caesar.
Imagine starting your day in the charming hilltop village of Ménerbes, one of France's Plus Beaux Villages. We'll wander through the bustling market, where locals gather to share fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, and handcrafted treasures. As we stroll the cobbled streets, you'll have time to soak in the serene beauty that inspired artists like Picasso and marvel at the sweeping views of the Luberon Valley. After a leisurely lunch at a quaint café, we'll make our way to nearby Ansouis, a village steeped in history with its ancient château and picturesque stone facades.
In the afternoon, we'll meander through Ansouis’ quiet lanes, discovering hidden courtyards and artisan workshops before heading to a nearby vineyard. Here, we'll unwind with a private tasting of local wines, perfectly paired with Provençal appetizers. As the golden light bathes the rolling vineyards, you'll savor the rich flavors and warm company of fellow travelers—an unforgettable way to end a perfect day in the heart of Provence.
Our day begins in the storybook village of Lourmarin, one of the most beloved gems of Provence. We'll wander through its lively market, where locals gather to sell everything from fresh produce and fragrant lavender to handmade textiles and artisanal cheeses. As we explore the charming cobbled streets and shaded squares, you'll have time to savor a café au lait, browse for unique souvenirs, and soak in the relaxed rhythm of Provençal life.
In the afternoon, we'll head to a nearby vineyard for a truly authentic experience. We'll roll up our pant legs and step into the ancient tradition of grape stomping — a playful and memorable way to connect with the wine-making heritage of the region. Afterward, we'll learn to play pétanque, the classic French pastime that's best enjoyed with a glass of rosé in hand and the soft hum of the vineyard around us.
To finish the day, we'll retreat into the peaceful embrace of the Luberon's cedar forest. Here, we'll practice the art of forest bathing — a gentle, meditative walk designed to help us slow down and connect with nature. As sunlight filters through the towering trees and the scent of cedar fills the air, we'll take deep breaths, let go of the noise of everyday life, and simply be present in this tranquil and restorative setting.
"When you are born there [Aix-en-Provence], it’s hopeless, nothing else is good enough." - Paul Cezanne
We’ll begin our day in the elegant city of Aix-en-Provence, known for its graceful fountains, sun-dappled squares, and vibrant café culture. With a local guide leading the way, we’ll explore the heart of the historic center, following in the footsteps of famous writers, musicians, and artists (Paul Cézanne, Darius Milhaud, Emile Zola) who once called this city home. From bustling markets to quiet, shaded courtyards, Aix perfectly captures the spirit of Provence.
In the afternoon, we’ll indulge in a truly unique experience at a local perfume workshop, where the rich scents of Provence come to life. Guided by an expert perfumer, you'll be introduced to the art of fragrance blending. With a curated selection of high-quality essences at your fingertips (think lavender, jasmine, fig, and citrus), you'll craft your own fragrance, one that captures the essence of your time in Provence. Whether you create something fresh and floral or warm and woody, your personalized scent will serve as a lasting memory of your journey through this enchanting region!
As the day winds down, we’ll make the short drive to Marseille, where our next adventure awaits.
Our final day will be spent discovering the vibrant port city of Marseille. We'll begin with a guided walking tour that unveils the city's rich history and cultural diversity, from the ancient Greek port to the colorful streets of the oldest district in Marseille, Le Panier. Along the way, we'll take in the striking architecture of the Old Port and perhaps stop for lunch and a coffee at one of the lively waterfront cafés.
In the afternoon, we'll enjoy some leisurely shopping, exploring artisan boutiques and local markets for unique finds. Marseille is famous for its savon de Marseille, the traditional olive oil soap, as well as handcrafted textiles and ceramics. We'll also visit a local workshop to admire the artistry of les santons, the hand-painted clay figurines that are an iconic part of Provençal tradition.
With time to stroll along the port and soak in the sea air, we’ll fully embrace Marseille’s relaxed Mediterranean vibe. If the mood strikes, we can even hop on a boat tour to explore the coastline and get a unique perspective of the city from the water. It’s the perfect way to end our journey through Provence.
Alas, all good things must come to an end. You will need to check out of your hotel room by noon, hug everyone goodbye, and we will ensure you have transportation to the Marseilles airport. Remember you'll need to be at the airport 3 hours ahead for your international flight. Some of you may decide to extend your stay in France - just let us know!

Transitions in life are never easy. Letting go of what once felt familiar and stepping into the unknown can be both thrilling and unsettling.
That's why taking a pause — to reflect and re-calibrate — is such an important part of the process. Rushing headlong into the next phase often leaves us questioning our decisions and wondering if we’ve chosen the right path.
I know this because I’ve been there. I didn’t fully recognize it at the time, but I was in a major life transition myself. I felt the shift happening, but I wasn’t sure what was next for me. So, I did something radical: I stepped away from my routine. I traveled. I created space to reflect. I tried new things. I said no to some commitments in order to make room for what was coming.
And then — I kid you not — I had an actual lightbulb moment. Everything clicked. I found my focus. I started making choices that aligned with what I truly loved. And life feels so much richer now because of it.
I want this for you, too.
So, my fellow woman... what is it that you want? How will you choose to spend this next chapter of your life?
Come. I invite you to fill your cup with us.
Do I need travel insurance?
I highly recommend that you research and obtain insurance coverage. I am not an insurance agent so I cannot recommend any particular policy. Be sure to understand what you are purchasing; here is a great article from Forbes Magazine about travel insurance versus travel protection. The nerds over at Nerdwallet have a good article on how to research and find the best policy for your situation. Rick Steves also has some tips and tricks.
What's the weather going to be like?
Provence has a rather dry climate but it can rain as autumn progresses. The daily average temperature will be between 60° and 70° F but could get close to 80° F on some days.
I have dietary restrictions - can that be accommodated?
This is the place to be if you're a vegetarian! There are plenty of meat-free options for you in Provence. If you have other concerns, please connect with me so we can discuss further.
What's the activity level of this trip?
Actively active but not excessive. We will be walking around towns - it's possible to walk up to four hours a day (but not all at once)! We won't be running, we won't be taking long hikes.
What should I pack?
I send a packing list to all my travelers! That being said, you won't need anything dressy, you should plan to pack in layers, and you can spend the whole trip in a pair of nice sneakers.
Where and when do we meet up?
I will meet you at 4 PM on September 20 at a hotel just minutes away from the Marseille Provence Airport. It's got a free airport shuttle and there's a perfect pool in case you get there early. We will have happy hour and a casual dinner, allowing the time for everyone to mingle and settle in after their long travels.
What kinds of arrangements do I need for getting home?
You should plan to fly out of the Marseille Airport departing on September 29. We will be staying at the same nearby hotel so no matter your flight time, you will be close by. I will drive you there; plan on departing the hotel 3.5 hours before your flight. You may have to leave earlier depending on other's schedules. Remember that hotel check out is at noon, so if your flight is later in the day, we can store your bags.
That always happens - just contact me and I'll be happy to answer anything.
