Tour Conditions
I am very much looking forward to traveling with you! This document outlines what Gallivant & Traipse (G&T) provides when you sign up for a G&T tour, and what you agree to do while on tour with G&T. Before you pay the deposit, please make sure this is the right kind of tour for you. By signing up for a tour with G&T, you are agreeing to these Tour Conditions so please read this document carefully before completing your reservation request.
Tour price:
The price for the trip you've selected is listed on its specific webpage. It’s the cost of running a tour based on a set Euro-to-US Dollar exchange rate. While this hasn’t happened yet, it is possible that the exchange rate of the dollar could drop significantly between your registration date and the travel dates. If that is the case, we may need to adjust – increase – the tour price. (Note: Our tour prices do not include airfare and may change without notice.)
Included in the price of each tour:
We are proud to create exceptional experiences for the tour price: hiring the best local guides, including admissions to events and sights seen as a group; a few grand meals as specified with beverages and tips; accommodations each night and breakfasts each morning, and various transportation as is necessary for our predetermined activities during the tour. Finally, there are the intangible resources of G&T: expertise, planning, guidance, inside information, and amazing curated adventures.
Itineraries are subject to change:
Europe is full of surprises, and we need to be flexible enough to take advantage of whatever comes along (good or bad!) so that we may provide you with the best possible tour. Uncompleted portions of the tour itinerary are not cause for refund.
Accommodations:
Single Occupancy: We cater to independent women who are done with sharing bedrooms. Therefore, our tours are priced for single occupancy rooms and G&T doesn’t punish people with single supplement prices. If you are traveling with a friend (and that is wonderful!) please contact us and we can provide pricing for a double occupancy room.
Reduced mobility: please advise us if you require an elevator or other accessible considerations and we will do our best to meet your needs.
Tour payments:
To reserve a seat on a G&T trip you must agree to these Tour Conditions and provide us with a deposit of $1200per person. We accept Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, and checks for all tour payments. Your final tour payment is due in our office at least 120 days prior to the start of the tour, in one payment. Your final payment due date is listed on the specific tour page and will be listed on your tour invoice. Missing the final payment deadline may result in your being removed from the tour and losing your deposit. If you sign up for a tour less than 60 days before its departure, the entire tour price must be paid, and is non-refundable.
Cancellations and refunds:
The deposit itself is non-refundable. Final Payment due date is approximately 4 months before the departure date; please view specific tour page for exact date and will be listed on your tour invoice. If you decide to cancel for any reason, the refund policy is as follows:
if you cancel 100 – 120 days before departure, you will receive 75% refund of your payments (minus the non-refundable deposit)
if you cancel 80 – 99 days before departure, you will receive 50% refund (minus the non-refundable deposit)
if you cancel 60 – 79 days before departure, you will receive 25% refund of your payments (minus the non-refundable deposit)
if you cancel with less than 60 days before departure date, the entire tour cost has become non-refundable
Cancellations must be sent to G&T in writing to libby@gallivantandtraipse.com
G&T reserves the right to cancel a tour prior to departure for any reason whatsoever. This includes things like acts of God, strikes, war, and insufficient participant number, but is not inclusive of these examples. G&T has no obligations to tour members on cancelled trips including any additional costs or fees related to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets or other travel reservations not made by G&T. Due to the nature of the travel industry, G&T often makes significant payments to suppliers well in advance of travel. If a trip is cancelled for a reason that would prevent the departure of a trip, G&T would do its best to recuperate as much as possible and remit any funds which hadn’t yet been paid out to its suppliers. However, G&T does not guarantee recovery of any or all the advance payments made. Upon completion, G&T shall be released from any further liability. This should serve as a reminder to research and obtain travel coverage.
Returned payments:
If a payment to G&T is returned unpaid for any reason (in other words, if your check "bounces"), we will assess a $50 returned-item fee per occurrence. The fee(s) will be added to the applicable tour balance and must be paid in full prior to your tour departure.
Tour forms, obligations, and risks:
To travel on a tour, all tour members are required to review and accept a General Release and Waiver Agreement prior to the beginning of a tour. Omitting important information, or altering any of these agreements, will render it invalid, and could result in expulsion from a tour at your own expense.
Participation:
While we do our very best to help everyone on our tours have a great trip, it sometimes happens that someone participating in a tour can misbehave or do things that are incompatible with the safety, comfort, or convenience of other members of the tour. In those circumstances we have the exclusive right and discretion to expel someone (even you) from a tour at any time.
Notices about France:
Health and Vaccinations - stay up-to-date on current travel health information via the CDC page on France.
Political Climate - stay up-to-date on current events in France via the US Department of State.
Tour member expectations:
G&T tours are moderately physically active, our hotels are centrally located but may provide fewer American-style amenities, and our people policy emphasizes a positive, flexible attitude. These are essential characteristics of the G&T tour experience. On any G&T tour, you assume certain obligations and responsibilities to G&T and your fellow tour members, including, but not limited to, the following:
Carry or roll your own luggage, possibly over uneven pavement, then haul it up a few flights of stairs to reach your room (please contact us if you have concerns about stairs, we may be able to ensure elevator access).
Be comfortable on your feet with brisk two-hour walking tours, climbing stairs, using public transportation, plus standing and walking inside museums and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Sleep in hotels with no (or inadequate) air conditioning, possible street noise, and slow Wi-Fi connections or Wi-Fi only in common areas. Thankfully most G&T tours are scheduled for the cooler and less crowded shoulder seasons, so heat and noise should not be major issues. That being said, G&T will do its best to find lodging that does have air conditioning, especially since it is becoming more and more common.
Sleep in lodging where you may have to share a bathroom. G&T will do its best to find lodging where en-suite bathrooms are available for every traveler but, as it states above, American-style amenities aren’t standard in European travel.
Follow all safety precautions and health directives set by Libby Cecchi, by G&T, or by local officials. Examples may include maintaining proper social distancing, the use of face masks (covering your nose and mouth), proper handwashing, the use of hand sanitizer, quarantining if you are showing symptoms of any contagious illness, being seen by a health professional, and/or taking a certified or proctored COVID test as a condition of continuing on with the tour. The possible precautions and directives required are not limited to the examples included here.
